It’s an excellence evening with fruity content and inspired time with many great female tech leaders. We hope you all gained the joyful moment in the Swinburne Vietnam Women in Technology Forum – the first Women in Tech Forum in Vietnam with opening remarks from the first female Governor of Victoria, Australia.

Ms Doan Kieu My came on stage and introduced about the event.

Swinburne Vietnam Women in Technology Forum – hosted by our partner Swinburne Vietnam to discuss about “Fostering an open discussion to advocate for Women in Tech movement in Vietnam” with H.E the Honourable Linda Dessau AC – The first female Governor of Victoria, Australia, and other 50 invited high-level delegates coming from the public and private sectors, academia, and young aspiring professionals.

The opening remark by H.E the Honorable Linda Dessau AC – the Victoria’s 29th Governor, the first female in the role.

In her early years as a lawyer, the Governor practised in commercial litigation and family law. She is engaged in a broad range of community organisations, leadership roles in the judiciary, to the advancement of economic ties and business relationships, and as a supporter of charitable, science and technology, and arts organisations.

Dr. Tran Thi Quang Hong, the Head of the Civil and Economic Law Division of Institute of Legal Science under the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice came on stage and had keynote sharing about Vietnam’s policies and considerations in encouraging female empowerment in tech

She is an exceptional government officer in Vietnam, for twenty years, Mrs Hong has conducted numerous research projects on issues of civil law, economic law, commercial law, law and technology, law on protection of vulnerable groups.

Then, Ms. Chu Thanh Ha, Chairwoman of FPT Telecom, as a woman in tech herself, and a representative from Vietnamese enterprise, came on stage and share about the role of industry and enterprise level in supporting women to play a leading role in the technology sector.

Ms. Ha holds an MBA from University of Hawaii, United States and Bachelor of Economics of National Economics University Hanoi. She is among top 10 of the most influential business women in Vietnam 2017 by Forbes Vietnam.

Swinburne University of Technology is an Australian public university based in Melbourne, Victoria. Swinburne was among the 2019 Top 50 Under 50 list, an index of the world’s top universities under 50 years old. They have many annual scholarships and activities aim to support an exceptional female student who is seeking a career in technology.

To make clear the role of educator in equipping women to play a leading role in the technology sector in Vietnam, Professor Duncan Bentley, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) – Swinburne University of Technology came on stage and shared his experience focus on Swinburne’s expertise in entrepreneurship and innovation, design thinking and Industry 4.0 to co-create with industry an outstanding student learning experience.

Keynote: Challenges and opportunities for women in tech in Vietnam shared by Ms. Minh Bui, Head of Headstart Research Center & Global Citizen Program – Swinburne Vietnam.

She attended the University of Manchester, UK for BSc. in Genetics, and then Manchester Business School for MSc. in Management of Science, Technology & Innovation. Minh Bui dedicates her leadership role in education to lay a foundation for students from Vietnam and other countries to develop a big vision and ability to face challenges.
