Congratulations to MultiGlass for making it the champion at STARTUP WORLD CUP VIETNAM REGIONAL, TechFest 2019. YellowBlocks was proud to be the sponsor for the top 10 and top 3 best startups in the final round.
MultiGlass is a smart communication device that includes 3 main technology platforms: multi iris recognition, IoT and AI, which help supervise drivers, warn them against dozing off, and avoid traffic accidents. Website: www.multivietnam.com
Let’s have a deep dive about their project through the article below.

Every year in Vietnam, around 100,000 people become disabled due to traffic or industrial accidents, data from major hospitals in Hanoi and Saigon says.
Transition into prosthetic arms and legs has proven difficult and slow. In order to help recovering patients get back on their feet faster, Le Hoang Anh and his team created MultiGlass, a smart gadget allowing people who have lost their arms to use smartphones and computers.
The technologies used to aid people with disabilities were soon found useful to drivers.
MultiGlass became smart glasses integrating Multi Iris Recognition, Internet of Things, and Artificial Intelligence. If the gadget senses that a driver is dozing off, a siren will be triggered to alert the driver. This device could potentially keep thousands of road accidents from occurring.
MultiGlass is now available at an affordable range of 700,000VND-1,150,000VND.
Founder Le came from a tech background, having championed prestigious national and global Olympiads throughout his high school years. He was doing his bachelor in IT when he dropped out to pursue his dreams full time.
We catch up with Le to learn about his exciting endeavors.
## Le, what has inspired MultiGlass?
In 2015, I had the chance to work with several people with disabilities in a project. They had such a hard time utilizing technologies, the kind of difficulties most companies could never imagine.
I witnessed the glass ceiling above this community. They are, and will be, left behind in a tech race that forgets them. I thought, why don’t I make a device that helps them catch up?
In its initial stage, MultiGlass was made only for people with disabilities. But as soon as we found out drivers could benefit from the same invention, we tried to integrate driver functions into the device.
We wanted to create a humane product, serving as many populations as it can, so the current version of MultiGlass came into fruition.
## The startup scene has witnessed a track record of failures among similar products. What have you learned from them?
Well, MultiGlass targets niche markets and solves specific problems in logistics, so we’ve seen more partners than competitors out there. In the meantime, we’re focusing on R&D. We want to make the product so good it will stand the test of time – and of course, the markets.
We learn a lot from the top players of the market. We study their wins, and how we can integrate them into our product. And we get constant feedback from our users, whose needs we want to fulfill holistically.
Every time I see our product make a difference in someone’s life, I’m reminded to keep on going.
## What problems did you encounter at the early stage? How did you overcome them?
Much like other startups, in our initial stage, we suffered with the lack of, well, everything.
We lacked funding, advisors, and a direction.
Everything was either self-taught or self-made. It was extremely hard. But what we lacked in resources was made up for by our persistence and passion.
We had the chance to enhance road safety and the digital experience of people with disabilities. We couldn’t miss it, so we fought diligently for where we are today. We’re now recognized internationally by TechFest and soon competing in Startup World Cup 2020 on behalf of our country Vietnam.
## What trends have you noticed in your target markets? How will MultiGlass adapt to them?
The trends mostly involve Blockchain, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence. Our team is researching different ways to make the most use of these technologies.
In the near future, we’re looking into upgrading MultiGlass with data management functions using the above emerging technologies. Maybe we can transfer those data to hospitals to help optometrists.
## What’s your most current win?
We recently participated in Asean Korea Startup 2019, where we’ve bagged millions of dollars in investment. We also signed a partnership with SK Telecom for the Korean market. This is our first step out of Vietnam to the rest of the world.
The driver market is big. It is our oyster.
